Event 3 - 11th June - Gloucester City CC at Hartpury.
This is the highlight of the Cotswold League
Calendar (as it is organised by me!). Thirty-eight riders braved
the overcast skies and were rewarded by 33 m of tough racing.
The handicapping was a little mis-judged, with the scratch group
gaining the two minutes on the middle group before half - way,
then the four minutes to the front group before the end of the
two of three laps.
After this the speed at the front shot up, with constant
attacking round the circuit. After fruitless attempts by Paul
Barnard of Gloucester City CC amongst others, a group of three
(Steve Dring (Parrot Print RT), Dave Asbridge (Cheltenham &
County CC and Tony Bown (Gloucester City CC) ) broke away with
half a lap to go and worked well together to build a small gap.On
the finishing hill (Old Over Road in Hartpury), Dave Asbridge was
leading until yards from the finish, where the road flattened and
Steve Dring charged past to win.
Paul Barnard went on to win the first over 40 prize, with Martin
Bush (Bush Healthcare) winning the 50+.
